Farms in Focus
Cultivating Awareness of Sustainable Agriculture Through the Arts
Mission Projects Funding Contact
Farms in Focus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of sustainable and small-scale agriculture through the arts.

Our mission is threefold:

  • To educate the public about sustainable agriculture using imaginative methods of teaching, including but not limited to photographic exhibits, collections of creative writing, sculpture, painting, poetry, dance performances, and musical compositions.
  • To encourage artists to work with local farmers, and to train their artistic vision on the land and those who cultivate it.
  • To lend organizational support to artists whose works deal with all facets of American agriculture.

As Americans become more distanced from their agrarian roots, we feel that it is important to maintain connections with the land in any way possible. To this end, Farms in Focus was created to cultivate agricultural awareness through the arts. Whatever the medium—be it poetry, painting, or puppetry—we believe that art carries with it the power to educate and inspire. As an organization, our goal is to harness this power and train its energy on agriculture.
